update post-banquet

Well....

I got a new haircut! haha

So it turns out that the new guy I met doesn't really want to start anything up because he's graduating and possibly leaving to work in North Carolina. And Alex and I kinda made up a little bit at Banquet. But he's leaving for Iraq at the end of the summer. So I'm stuck, and not sure what to think/do. Boys are so complicated. A puppy would be so much easier to deal with...and train. ;) hahaha!

Me and Worm(Lee) at dinner

Banquet was a blast! The food was good (but messy), the swimming was fun, and the drinking was great. I missed the dance because Alex wanted to talk...and that took like 4 hours. Oh well.

^The only thing I wish I wouldn't have missed was the No Pants Revolution. I've yet to witness one firsthand.

The new 2008 TKE Sweetheart, my friend Tiffany

Tracey and I went out last week because her sister came to visit. It was a good time.

Our favorite bar is Boondocks because they only play country music, and it's always packed with people that are having a good time. And the bouncer, Bobby, is my buddy! I tend to refuse to go anywhere else, especially after I've been drinking...and if the bartender is hot. haha. So pretty much if Ryan and/or Mitch are working that weekend...Tracey and Erin are at Boondocks! :)

feeling blah

Go to class, do homework, go tanning, workout, sleep; repeat 5 times.

That's my week. Weekends are a little more fun, but not too crazy. Needless to say, even though spring break just ended, it seems like it never happened and I'm in a rut of boredom and monotony. SO. BORED.

Fortunately for me, the TKE Red Carnation Ball is this weekend. :) I finally found out that I get to go, and I'm super excited.

Other news.....

I've decided that I want to get a certificate in Massage Therapy, if I can. After finishing my bachelor's at Platteville. And I am planning on attending as many seminars and classes on dog training as possible this summer. Most likely I will try to get a job at a kennel. It would be amazing if I could make a living training dogs. Ah, the perfect job!

Alex and I are no longer seeing each other. That's done for good, and has been for almost a month now. I met a someone last weekend, and I'm feeling pretty optimistic. There's a possibility, I think. His name is James. He's into hunting and fishing, loves country music (that's kind of a must around me haha), and is one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. We went to a movie last night, and it was a lot of fun. -By the way, 21 is an amazing movie! Go see it!- We'll just have to see what happens.

Caitlyn visits

I talked one of my best friends, Caitlyn, into coming up to Platteville to party. She and her son had been sick all week, and she was in desperate need of getting out of the house and getting some 'college experience' as she called it. It was an awesome time, and I'm so glad I finally got her to come up.

Cait getting hit on. She was so proud of herself. I told her this proves she is a MILF. haha

She was bored with just drinking....she was ready to dance!!

She met a few of the guys and fell in love with all of them. It turned out to be an amazing night, and SO MUCH FUN! I don't think it will be very hard to talk her into coming up to party and hang out again! :)

Friends

To highlight the ratio of guys to girls in platteville, the tri-plex house that we live in houses 6 guys and 2 girls. I became instant friends with the guys that live in the other two apartments. Interestingly, they are all part of the same fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE). They all have nicknames, and are rarely called by their real names. They invited me over to the TKE house to hang out and meet the other guys. To make a long story short, I am friends with pretty much all of the active TKEs(/Tekes), and hang out with them every weekend, and sometimes during the week. Also, I dated two of them.

Me and Steve, one of the guys that lives in the apartment across the hall. Steve is an exception to the nickname rule, unless he is drunk. Then he is known as Pigpen.

Fonix, Hammy, Wookie, me, and Tonto outside Denny's after their Fall Banquet at the Dells.
Me and Worm, another neighbor from across the hall.

Alex and Trevin. Trevin's nickname is Brock, but I think that Trevin is a neat name, so that's what I call him. He's also one of my neighbors.

Alex and I dated for a while. We are seeing each other again, but aren't "official". His nickname is Leon, but mostly the TKEs call him Puffer(his last name). Alex is in the Army, and is getting sent to Iraq soon. This is his last semester at Platteville until he gets back from Iraq, which will be about a year and a half. I'm so sad he's leaving, and I'm going to be so worried about him. Every time I even think about it, I get teary-eyed. On a lighter note, Alex just got promoted from Private to Specialist. He is still doing the same job, he just gets more money and "gets to boss other people around for once".

Call me weird, but I love the way his eyes crinkle when he REALLY smiles.

The only 'kiss' picture I've ever taken. And I think it's adorable. So sue me.

I have a few friends that are girls, but not many. Just too much drama!

Anyway, the few chick friends that I have are crazy fun to be around, and 3 of them are dating TKEs!

Kelley and Tiff. Kelley is dating Trevin, and Tiff is dating Xander.

Kristin and Kari. Kristin is dating Tazz. Kari's not dating a TKE, but she's kinda cool so we let her hang out with us. hahah.

New Pet

Due to the fact that I'm not involved in any extra-curricular activities, my roommate is never around, and it's not a good idea to party EVERY night, I decided to get a pet. If I had enough money to pay the $60 per month fee to have a dog or a cat in my apartment, I would. But, I'm broke so I can't. Nonetheless, I was curious and researched small dogs. I love Jack Russell Terriers, but they are expensive up here.
Rat Terriers are very similar, and even a little smaller(perfect for an apartment!) their max height hitting just below an average person's knee. They can have floppy ears or pointy-stand-up-y ears and a docked tail. In my search, I looked through local papers and online at the Dubuque Telegraph Herald. I found numerous ads. Rat Terrier puppies up here are SO cheap! The average price asked for a Rat Terrier puppy was $40! The cheapest I found was $25. Very tempting. BUT, not smart. So, I put getting a puppy on the back burner. Maybe next year. (wishful thinking!!)

Well, with a puppy out of the picture, I turned to something smaller. After more internet searches, I decided that a rat would be fun. They are low-maintenance, intelligent, and actually are very affectionate.

I named my rat Remy, after the main rat in the kids' movie Ratatouille. Remy is affectionate, gentle, and VERY curious. He loves to explore, and is drawn to anything shiny or sparkly. His favorite hangout is in the hood of a sweatshirt. He loves carrots, broccoli, peanuts, and cheese. He also loves to be petted, especially inbetween his ears and on his forehead. He likes to run around in the ball I bought him, but he hasn't figured out not to poop in it. Surprisingly, he enjoys baths and hates to be dirty. He cleans himself more than a cat!

Intro

Well, where to start? I'm at UW-Platteville now, since graduating from Highland in May of 2007. Unfortunately, I'm not playing volleyball as I did at HCC. I truly miss it. To make up for it, I played intramurals on my neighbors' team. Also, I am taking a volleyball PE class.

I'm studying Biology, and haven't made the final decision to go into radiology/radiation therapy yet. Currently, my major is Biology- Secondary Education. This means that I would be teaching! I'm hoping that I will be able to substitute teach while I'm waiting to get into a radiology program. Maybe I will love it and decide that I want to teach. We'll have to see.
